Like many people, I was obsessed with reading as a kid, but once I got a kindle fire, for the purpose of reading, I was introduced to the internet, YouTube to be exact, and I stopped reading. However-I started reading again mid 2021, and so far I’ve read about 40 books. These are the best books to get you back into reading, in no particular order.

1. Live in Love by Lauren Atkins

I love Thomas Rhett, and his wife Lauren, their story is so sweet, and this book allowed a closer insight into their lives. I loved everything about this book. It made me understand certain songs better, like Heaven Right Now (one of my all time favorites) and Want It Again. This was the first book that restarted my reading journey, and I could not recommend it enough especially if you love country music, and Thomas Rhett.

2. The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides

This book was insane. This book is captivating, and I could not put it down. This psychological thriller will keep you on the edge of your seat, and give you chills, and creeped out. It exceeded all the hype that “Book-Tok” gave it.

3. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

This book also completely captivated me. I was almost late to work last summer because I needed to finish it, and find out the ending. Evelyn seeks out Monique, a journalist trying to kick up her career, to help write her biography. The story of her life, all seven husbands, and her career trials and tribulations inbetween.

4. It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover

This book was so conflicting and makes you truly see both sides of a relationship, the ups and downs that created the story. This book is partially based on Colleen Hoover's family's story. Another book I could not put down.

5. A Good Girls Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson

Although this book is a Young Adult, teeny book I could not recommend it enough-especially if you like crime shows, murder mysteries. The plot twists keep you thinking, and your brain spirling trying to figure it out.

6. Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks

I loved this book, I had never read or watched a Nicholas Sparks book or movie but I picked this up at a used book store up north, and thoroughly enjoyed it. It follows Katie and Alex, two middle aged people recovering from past relationships full of heartache, and secrets. It was a great summer beach read.

7. Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid

This is probably my favorite book on this list. I loved every second of it, and have recommended it to everyone I know trying to get back into reading or avid readers. This book is a great summer read. I loved the format mix of present day and back stories switching off. Her characterization allows you to truly connect, and understand each character's relationship both with themselves, and their siblings. Her writing made you feel as if you were right there along in the story.

8. Atomic Habits by James Clear

This is a great “self help” esque book. I would not even classify it as self help, to me it is a more informative, habit building helper book. Clear does not preach at you telling you to do this and you have to stop doing this. He gives clear tools to help you solidify new habits, and break the bad ones.

9. 28 Summers by Elin Hilderbrand

This book is SO good. It follows Mallory for 28 summers (duh) and her last weekend in August meeting with Jake. This book is such a good summer read, as many of Elins books are. If you want to start out reading any of her novels, this is the one.

10. Beach Read by Emily Henry

I may be biased because there is nothing I love more than an Up north summer on Lake Michigan, really you can't beat it. I love the enemies to lovers trope. This book is funny, full of banter, and cute moments. This book really is the perfect Beach Read.

I hope that you guys start reading by reading one of these books! Follow me on goodreads if you want to keep up with all my readings and ratings @cayleycatlett !
